Pearson Edexcel · qualification code YBI01 · Modular specification
AS Level (Year 12)
Pearson Edexcel International AS Mathematics is modular: typically P1 + P2 + (S1 or M1 or D1). Three units sat at AS level worth 50% of the full A Level.
Full A Level (Year 13)
Full Edexcel International A Level Mathematics totals 6 units: P1, P2, P3, P4 plus two applied (M1/M2/M3, S1/S2/S3, or D1/D2). Modular structure means students can re-sit individual units to improve grades.
Exam series
Two exam series each year: January and June. Modular re-sits are a key Edexcel IAL advantage - failed or low-graded units can be resat without retaking the whole A Level.
Grade boundaries
Grade A* on the full A Level requires an overall A plus 90% averaged on the three A2 papers (P3, P4, and one applied A2 unit). Boundaries vary per series.
