Assessment
How Pearson Edexcel International A Level Mathematics is assessed
Every unit is a 1 h 30 min paper. The International AS is P1, P2 and one of M1, S1 or D1. The International A Level is P1–P4 plus two applied units: M1 and S1, M1 and D1, M1 and M2, S1 and D1, or S1 and S2.
Specification XMA01/YMA01 (Issue 3), first examined in 2019.

Where marks are lost
Common Pearson Edexcel International A Level Maths mistakes
Ignoring the word “hence”.
“Hence” means use the result you’ve just found. A fresh method that skips it can lose the marks.
Resolving forces in the wrong directions.
On a slope, draw a force diagram and resolve parallel and perpendicular to the slope, not horizontally and vertically.
Using the wrong tail of the Normal distribution.
Standardise with Z = (X − μ) ÷ σ, then sketch the curve and shade the area you want before using the tables.
