How Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics is assessed
There are no tiers: everyone takes both papers and can get grades 9–1. Paper 1 covers the core content, and Paper 2 covers everything, including the bold statements that go into some topics in more depth.
Specification 4PH1 (Issue 4), first examined in 2019.

Where marks are lost
Common Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics mistakes
Using grams or centimetres in equations.
Convert to kilograms, metres and seconds first. Kinetic energy with mass in grams is a thousand times too big.
Splitting current equally in series.
In series, the current is the same everywhere. In parallel, the branch currents add up to the current from the supply.
Thinking a sample has gone after two half-lives.
Each half-life halves what’s left: after two half-lives a quarter of the original nuclei remain, after three an eighth.
