Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) · qualification code 7402 · Linear specification
AS Level (Year 12)
AQA A Level Mathematics (7357) is a linear specification - there is no standalone AS qualification examined in modular form. Students study AS content (Pure + applied) in Year 12, but exams are sat only at the end of Year 13.
Full A Level (Year 13)
Three papers at the end of Year 13: Paper 1 (Pure, 100 marks, 2 hours), Paper 2 (Pure + Mechanics, 100 marks), Paper 3 (Pure + Statistics, 100 marks). Pure content makes up two-thirds of the qualification.
Exam series
Single exam series in summer of Year 13 (typically May/June). No January re-sits - the linear reform means students sit all three papers in a single sitting. Re-sit option exists only as a full re-take the following year.
Grade boundaries
Grade A* typically requires around 80% overall (varies per series). AQA publishes grade boundaries on Results Day in August.
Content we cover one-to-one
- ✓Pure - proof, algebra & functions, coordinate geometry, sequences & series, trigonometry, exponentials & logarithms
- ✓Pure - differentiation, integration, numerical methods, vectors
- ✓Mechanics - quantities, kinematics, forces & Newton's laws, moments
- ✓Statistics - sampling, data presentation & interpretation, probability, statistical distributions, hypothesis testing
- ✓Large Data Set - AQA-specified real-world dataset for the statistics paper
