Teach IGCSE, A Level & IB Online from the UK - Tutor Recruitment & Careers

Teach international students taking the exam boards you already know โ€” Cambridge, Edexcel and IB โ€” from anywhere in the UK. You set your hourly rate, publish the hours you actually want to work, and are paid monthly in GBP via Wise. No commute, no agency cut off your first month.

Is there actually work? Here are the numbers.

Most tutoring platforms ask you to sign up and find out. These are real trial requests from students over the Julโ€“Sep 2026 window โ€” 1067 of them across the curricula and subjects we support. It is a snapshot of one window, not a live count of what is open today, so treat it as the shape of the demand rather than today's inbox.

Where the students are

United Arab Emirates, India, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia lead the requests whose origin we can identify.

The hours work better from the UK than you would think

This is where most UK tutors assume international teaching means midnight lessons. It does not, because about 38% of identified demand sits in the Gulf.

Best fit

Gulf students ยท 3โ€“6pm UK

The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar run 3โ€“4 hours ahead. Their after-school evening lands in your late afternoon โ€” straight after a UK school day, and the single easiest slot to teach if you already work in a school.

Good fit

Singapore & Malaysia ยท around midday UK

7โ€“8 hours ahead, so their evening is your late morning and lunchtime. This suits university students, part-time and supply teachers, and anyone not tied to a 9โ€“5 โ€” less so a full-time classroom teacher.

Also

Weekends are the overlap

Weekend mornings and afternoons UK time reach every one of these markets at a civilised hour, which is why they are the most-booked slots on the platform for tutors in your timezone.

Why international families ask for UK tutors

๐ŸŽฏ You already know the boards

Cambridge and Edexcel are the two biggest curricula on the platform. A UK teacher who has marked, moderated or taught to those specifications is selling exactly what these families are looking for.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Native English, UK standards

Many of these students are heading for UK universities. A tutor who knows what UK examiners and admissions tutors expect is worth more to them than one who only knows the content.

๐Ÿ’ท Paid in GBP, monthly

You set the rate; our commission is added on top, so you keep what you set. Payouts land monthly in GBP via Wise โ€” no invoicing families and no chasing payment. Work out what that pays.

๐Ÿ“… You publish the hours

You open the slots you want and are only matched into those. Tutors here run anything from two lessons a week alongside a school job to a full self-employed timetable.

๐ŸŽ“ Free CPD training

The Tutor & Teacher Training course is free and self-paced: teaching international curricula online, running a trial lesson, and supporting students with ADHD, autism or dyslexia remotely.

๐Ÿ  No commute, no agency cut

Everything is online and 1:1. There is no travel between houses and no agency taking a slice of your first month's fees.

Questions UK tutors ask before applying

How many students are actually requesting tutors?

1067 trial requests came through the Julโ€“Sep 2026 window across the curricula and subjects we support, and the table above breaks that down by subject. These are real trial requests, not estimates. They are also a snapshot of one window rather than a live count of what is open today โ€” ask us for current numbers in your subject before you subscribe and we will tell you.

Do I need to be a qualified teacher in the UK?

No. QTS, a PGCE or a B.Ed is the strongest signal, and international families ask about it directly, but experienced tutors and strong graduates without one are matched on demonstrated subject knowledge, results and completed training. The readiness check tells you where your own background sits.

Can I teach a curriculum I have not formally taught before?

Usually yes, if the subject knowledge is there. Someone who has taught IGCSE Chemistry and holds a strong A Level in it can generally add A Level Chemistry โ€” the content overlaps heavily and the step up is in exam technique and depth, which the free training covers. You list the levels you are confident teaching, and families choose.

When do the lessons actually happen in UK time?

Most demand is in the Gulf and Southeast Asia. Gulf students' after-school evening (roughly 6โ€“9pm local) lands at about 3โ€“6pm UK time, which sits right after a UK school day. Singapore and Malaysia evenings land around midday UK, which suits part-time tutors, university students and anyone not in a 9โ€“5. You publish your own slots, so you only ever teach the hours you open.

How am I paid from the UK?

You set your own hourly rate and our commission is added on top of it, so you keep the rate you set. Payouts are monthly in GBP via Wise.

Is there a subscription?

Yes โ€” a tutor plan (SGD 10/month or SGD 90/year) keeps your profile visible and gives you the marketplace, the learning resources and platform licences. It is a visibility fee, not a placement guarantee: it does not promise a set number of enquiries. If you want to judge the opportunity first, take the readiness check and ask us for current demand in your subject.

Not sure where your background fits?

The readiness check takes about two minutes, tells you which curricula match your qualifications and which free training closes the gaps. It is not an application.
