Scholarships for Indian students โ what students ask us most.
Which scholarships can Indian students actually get?+
Three groups. India-specific and India-heavy schemes: Felix Scholarships, Orange Tulip's India programme and the Rhodes India constituency. Country-list schemes that include India: Commonwealth Master's and PhD, Chevening, GREAT, DAAD's EPOS and Helmut Schmidt programmes, the Swedish Institute Scholarships, Manaaki New Zealand and Fulbright, among others in this collection. And every award open to all international students โ most university merit and entrance scholarships worldwide. Always confirm the current cycle's country list on the official programme site.
Can Indian students get a full scholarship to study abroad?+
Yes, but almost entirely at postgraduate level: Chevening, Commonwealth, Fulbright and the Swedish Institute awards cover tuition and living costs for master's or doctoral study. Fully funded undergraduate awards are rare and brutally competitive โ Toronto's Lester B. Pearson is the famous example. Most Indian undergraduates who cut costs meaningfully do it by stacking a university entrance award on top of a destination with lower base fees.
Do these scholarships cover the whole family budget โ flights, visa, living costs?+
Only the fully funded government flagships do: Chevening and Commonwealth, for example, cover tuition, a living stipend and return flights. University merit awards are usually tuition discounts โ โน8โ20 lakh of relief on a degree, with living costs, visa fees, insurance and flights still on the family. Read each award's value line carefully, and budget against the total cost of attendance, not the tuition sticker.
When should Indian students start scholarship applications?+
Twelve to eighteen months before the intake. Chevening opens in August and closes in early November for the following September; Commonwealth nominations run October to December; university entrance awards are mostly decided with admission, which rewards applying early in the cycle. Starting in Class 12 board year (for undergraduate) or final year of your bachelor's (for postgraduate) is on time โ later than that and the best deadlines have already passed.
Is the university placement service really free?+
Yes, our service is 100% free. Counselling, university matching, application support and guidance right up to your offer cost you nothing. There are no consultation fees and no agent fees, because we are funded by our university partners. The only cost you take on is the universityโs own tuition or semester fees, which you pay directly to the university after you accept your offer.
What exactly do you help with?+
Everything from start to finish: understanding your options, shortlisting the right programme, preparing your application and personal statement, submitting to the university, and guiding you through the offer, enrolment and visa paperwork, all with a dedicated counsellor.
