About Canada

Canada combines internationally respected universities with tuition that is generally lower than in the US or UK, and a reputation for being one of the safest and most welcoming countries for international students.

Institutions such as the University of Toronto, UBC and McGill rank among the world's best, while a large network of universities and colleges across every province offers strong co-op and work-placement programmes that build real experience before you graduate.

Studying in Canada: your questions, answered

What visa do I need to study in Canada?

The main student route is the Study permit. Visa type: Study permit, with a Provincial Attestation Letter and a letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution. Work during study: Up to 24 hours per week off campus in term; full-time in scheduled breaks. Post-study work: Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), up to 3 years depending on course length. English requirement: IELTS / TOEFL / PTE as required by the institution. Proof of funds: Tuition plus a set annual living-cost amount, often via a GIC. Visa and immigration rules change regularly and depend on your nationality, course and circumstances, so your Tutopiya counsellor confirms the current requirements before you apply.

How much does it cost to study in Canada?

International tuition typically falls in the range of C$20,000โ€“C$40,000 per year, and living costs vary by city. Tutopiya's counselling, application and enrolment support is free, so the only cost you take on is the university's own fees.

Is the university placement service really free?

Yes, our service is 100% free. Counselling, university matching, application support and guidance right up to your offer cost you nothing. There are no consultation fees and no agent fees, because we are funded by our university partners. The only cost you take on is the universityโ€™s own tuition or semester fees, which you pay directly to the university after you accept your offer.

What exactly do you help with?

Everything from start to finish: understanding your options, shortlisting the right programme, preparing your application and personal statement, submitting to the university, and guiding you through the offer, enrolment and visa paperwork, all with a dedicated counsellor.

Which universities can you place me into?

We place students into a range of UK and international universities, and we shortlist the best-fit options for your grades, budget and goals rather than pushing a single school. On some pages we run dedicated free placement drives for a specific partner university, and we are always adding more partners. Tell us your goals and your counsellor will map out your options.

Do I need my final results before I apply?

No. We work from predicted grades, so you can start the process well before results day and secure a conditional offer. Once your final grades are in, we help you confirm your place.

What qualifications do you accept?

We place students from IGCSE / O-Level, A-Levels (Cambridge and Edexcel), the IB Diploma, foundation and diploma programmes, and national curricula such as CBSE and ICSE. If your grades are not quite there for direct entry, we advise on an international foundation year.

How soon will someone contact me?

A Tutopiya counsellor contacts you within 24 hours of your enquiry to talk through your options and next steps.
