About this scholarship
The Hardiman Scholarships are University of Galway's flagship doctoral awards, open across every discipline and to candidates of any nationality.
Awards run for four years of a structured PhD and cover both fees and a living stipend, which makes them one of the more complete PhD packages in Ireland.

Eligibility
- A new PhD entrant starting a full-time structured doctorate in September
- A first or upper second class honours primary degree, held or expected
- An eligible University of Galway supervisor who agrees to support the application
- Open to applicants of any nationality
- Meeting the university's English language requirement
How to apply
- Identify a supervisor and secure their agreement before applying
- Prepare the research proposal with your nominated supervisor
- Submit the full application by the February deadline
- Provide transcripts, references and the supervisor's supporting statement

What does the placement service cost?
A flat SGD 50, billed as two monthly instalments of SGD 25. That covers everything: counselling, university matching, application support and guidance right up to your offer. There are no hidden extras, no agent fees and no commission on your tuition, because our counselling is funded by our university partners, the SGD 50 only covers administration. Separately, you pay the university’s own tuition or semester fees directly to the university after you accept your offer.
