Psychology degrees abroad

One of the most-chosen degrees abroad — and one where accreditation, not ranking, is the detail that decides what the degree can become.

Why study psychology abroad

Psychology has quietly become one of the most popular degrees among the students we place, and for coherent reasons: the subject's professional infrastructure — clinical training, counselling, organisational psychology — is far deeper in the UK and Australia than in most of South Asia and the Gulf, and the degree doubles as a respected general credential for careers in HR, marketing, health and education. Mental-health professions are also growing fast at home, and foreign-trained psychologists are prominent in that growth.

The one detail that outranks university prestige is accreditation: a UK psychology degree accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) — as the strong programmes are — confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, the gateway to every UK professional training route and a marker respected internationally. Our advice is simple: choose an accredited programme, then optimise for city, cost and research strengths, in that order.

Frequently asked questions

Studying psychology abroad — what students ask us most.

Do I need science A-Levels for psychology?

Usually not — most programmes accept any strong subject mix, though many like to see one science or mathematics, and a few competitive courses require Biology. The degree itself is more scientific than applicants expect: research methods and statistics run through every year, so comfort with data helps more than prior psychology study, which almost no university requires. Strong essay subjects plus one science is the classic, safe profile.

What does BPS accreditation mean and do I need it?

British Psychological Society accreditation means the degree grants Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) — the entry ticket to UK postgraduate training in clinical, counselling, educational and forensic psychology. If any professional psychology career is on your horizon, treat accreditation as non-negotiable; if you're taking psychology as a general degree for business or HR careers, it matters less but costs nothing to have. Australian programmes have an equivalent system through APAC — the same logic applies.

Can I become a clinical psychologist by studying abroad?

Yes, but understand the full ladder: an accredited bachelor's is step one, followed by competitive postgraduate training — the UK's clinical doctorate route is fully funded but heavily contested, Australia's pathway runs through accredited master's programmes. Many international graduates instead build careers in counselling, assistant-psychologist and organisational roles, or return home where foreign clinical training is in high demand. Plan the ladder before the first step, and pick the bachelor's that keeps your intended rung reachable.

Is the university placement service really free?

Yes, our service is 100% free. Counselling, university matching, application support and guidance right up to your offer cost you nothing. There are no consultation fees and no agent fees, because we are funded by our university partners. The only cost you take on is the university’s own tuition or semester fees, which you pay directly to the university after you accept your offer.

What exactly do you help with?

Everything from start to finish: understanding your options, shortlisting the right programme, preparing your application and personal statement, submitting to the university, and guiding you through the offer, enrolment and visa paperwork, all with a dedicated counsellor.

Which universities can you place me into?

We place students into a range of UK and international universities, and we shortlist the best-fit options for your grades, budget and goals rather than pushing a single school. On some pages we run dedicated free placement drives for a specific partner university, and we are always adding more partners. Tell us your goals and your counsellor will map out your options.
