Scholarships to study in the US — what students ask us most.
How does the Fulbright Foreign Student Program actually work?+
You apply through the Fulbright commission or US embassy in your own country — not to a US university directly — and each country sets its own eligibility, fields and deadlines, typically a year or more before study begins. Selected scholars get university placement support as part of the programme, with funding that covers tuition, living costs, airfare and health insurance for the award period.
Are there scholarships for undergraduate study in the US?+
Yes, but from the universities rather than national schemes: merit scholarships at many institutions, and need-based aid for international students at a small set of well-endowed universities. Both are competitive and university-specific. If undergraduate study in the US is the goal, plan the funding search alongside the university shortlist from day one — your counsellor can tell you where your profile has a realistic case.
Do these awards cover the full cost of a US degree?+
The flagships do — Fulbright and Knight-Hennessy fund tuition and living comprehensively for the award period. University merit awards more often cover a portion of tuition, which matters in the US where total costs run high: always model the remaining gap across all four years (or two, for a master's) before accepting an offer.
What does the placement service cost?+
A flat SGD 50, billed as two monthly instalments of SGD 25. That covers everything: counselling, university matching, application support and guidance right up to your offer. There are no hidden extras, no agent fees and no commission on your tuition, because our counselling is funded by our university partners, the SGD 50 only covers administration. Separately, you pay the university’s own tuition or semester fees directly to the university after you accept your offer.
What exactly do you help with?+
Everything from start to finish: understanding your options, shortlisting the right programme, preparing your application and personal statement, submitting to the university, and guiding you through the offer, enrolment and visa paperwork, all with a dedicated counsellor.
