No offer, no fee
Refund terms
If we apply on your behalf and no university makes you an offer, we refund the SGD 50 placement fee in full. This page sets out exactly what that covers, what it does not, and how to claim.
Effective 27 August 2026
The short version
You pay SGD 50 for a counsellor to run your university application. If that process ends with no offer from anywhere we applied, you have not received what you paid for, and we give the money back. The conditions below exist to be clear about what counts as "no offer" โ not to find reasons to keep your money.
When you get a full refund
All three of these must be true:
- We applied to at least one university on your behalf, and every application was unsuccessful.
- Every university we applied to rejected your application, withdrew it, or failed to return a decision before the intake closed.
- You met your side of the process: you gave us the documents we asked for, and the information you gave us was accurate.
When it does not apply
Each of these is stated with the reason, so you can judge whether it is fair before you pay rather than after.
- You received an offer and turned it down
- The guarantee is that you receive an offer, not that you accept one. A conditional offer counts as an offer, including one conditional on results or an English test. If you decide the offer is not right for you, your counsellor will keep working with you, but the SGD 50 is not refunded.
- You did not respond to an offer in time
- Universities set their own deadlines to accept. If an offer lapses because it was not accepted in time, the offer was still made.
- Your visa was refused
- A visa decision is made by a government, not a university, and comes after the offer. We help you prepare the application and check the documents, but no agent can control the outcome. The guarantee covers offers, not visas.
- You withdrew before we applied
- If you stop the process before any application is submitted, there is no application outcome to judge. Tell us as soon as you know, and see "Cancelling" below.
- You did not provide the documents we needed
- We cannot apply without transcripts, identification and, where required, an English test result. If we ask twice and the documents do not arrive within 30 days of the second request, we may close the case, and the fee is not refunded.
- The information you gave us was false or incomplete
- Grades, qualifications, previous visa refusals and immigration history all affect where you can realistically apply. An application that fails because of something you did not disclose is not covered.
- Costs paid to anyone other than Tutopiya
- University application fees, UCAS charges, English test fees, visa fees, health surcharges and tuition deposits are paid to those bodies, not to us. We cannot refund money we never received. Only the Tutopiya placement fee is covered here.
How to claim
- 1
Email us within 60 days
Write to info@tutopiya.com with the subject "Refund claim", within 60 days of the last application decision. Include your full name and the email address you used to pay.
- 2
We check the applications
Your counsellor confirms which universities we applied to and what each decided. We will come back to you within 7 working days, and we may ask for a document if something is unclear.
- 3
The refund is paid
If the claim is covered, the full SGD 50 is returned to the card or account you paid from, within 14 days of us confirming it. We do not offer refunds as credit or vouchers unless you ask for one.
Cancelling
You can stop at any time. Email info@tutopiya.com and we will cancel the subscription so no further payment is taken. Payments already made cover work already done and are not automatically refunded โ but if you feel you got nothing for them, say so in the same email and we will look at it properly.
Changes to these terms
The terms that apply to you are the ones published on the day you paid. If we change this page, the change applies to students who pay afterwards, not retrospectively. This page carries an effective date so you can check which version you agreed to.
Questions about any of this before you pay are welcome โ ask them. Email info@tutopiya.com or ask your counsellor on the first call.
Refund questions
What exactly is refunded?
The Tutopiya placement fee: SGD 50 in total, both monthly payments of SGD 25. Nothing else passes through us, so nothing else is ours to refund.
Does a conditional offer count as an offer?
Yes. Most offers made before final results are conditional, and a conditional offer is a real offer from the university. If you then miss the conditions, speak to your counsellor: there are usually other routes, including foundation and pathway options, and we will keep working with you.
What if I only wanted one specific university and did not get in?
The guarantee applies when every application we submitted was unsuccessful. If you asked us to apply to one university only and it said no, that is covered. Your counsellor will normally advise applying to more than one, and will tell you plainly if a single-application strategy is risky.
Can I cancel the second payment?
Yes. The fee is billed as 2 monthly payments of SGD 25, and it stops after the second by design. If you decide to stop before the second payment is taken, email info@tutopiya.com and we will cancel it. Work completed up to that point is not refunded, but you will not be charged again.
What if my counsellor never applied anywhere?
Then the service was not delivered and you get your money back, whatever the reason. Email info@tutopiya.com and say so.
How long do I have?
Sixty days from the last application decision. If your applications span more than one intake, the clock starts at the last decision, not the first.
