About this scholarship
KAAD is the scholarship body of the German Catholic Church and funds master's and doctoral study in Germany for graduates from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
Applications from India and Sri Lanka usually run through KAAD's regional partner committees, and candidates are expected to return home and contribute after the degree.

Eligibility
- A national of a developing or emerging country in Asia, Africa, Latin America or the Middle East
- Holding a first degree from your home country and normally some professional experience
- German at B1 level before arrival, or at least A2 for an English-taught programme
- Socially engaged, and willing to take part in inter-religious dialogue
- A commitment to return home after completing the degree
How to apply
- Check whether KAAD has a partner committee in your country
- Secure admission or a supervisor's letter from a German university
- Submit the KAAD application with references, including one from a church or community body
- Prepare for an interview with the regional committee

What does the placement service cost?
A flat SGD 50, billed as two monthly instalments of SGD 25. That covers everything: counselling, university matching, application support and guidance right up to your offer. There are no hidden extras, no agent fees and no commission on your tuition, because our counselling is funded by our university partners, the SGD 50 only covers administration. Separately, you pay the university’s own tuition or semester fees directly to the university after you accept your offer.
What exactly do you help with?
Everything from start to finish: understanding your options, shortlisting the right programme, preparing your application and personal statement, submitting to the university, and guiding you through the offer, enrolment and visa paperwork, all with a dedicated counsellor.
