Scholarships for students applying from the UAE — what students ask us most.
I live in the UAE but hold another passport — which scholarships apply to me?+
The ones for your citizenship. Scholarship eligibility is almost always defined by nationality, so an Indian or Sri Lankan citizen living in the UAE should work from our Indian students and Sri Lankan students collections respectively — residence in the UAE doesn't remove those options, and for most schemes it doesn't add UAE-specific ones either. A few programmes do ask you to apply from your country of citizenship, so check each award's application-location rule before planning around it.
Are there scholarships for Emirati citizens to study abroad?+
Yes. Chevening's eligible-country list includes the UAE for UK master's study, and the open merit awards — Gates Cambridge, Clarendon, Knight-Hennessy, plus university entrance scholarships worldwide — carry no nationality restriction at all. Emirati students should also look at UAE government and semi-government sponsorship programmes, which sit outside this catalog but often fund overseas study generously.
Do UAE school grades (IB, A-Levels, CBSE) qualify for merit scholarships?+
Yes. University entrance scholarships assess the qualification you graduate with, and UAE schools teach the world's most portable curricula — IB, British A-Levels and CBSE are all accepted for direct entry and scholarship scoring at universities across the UK, Canada, Australia and Europe. Strong predicted grades matter: many entrance awards are decided at offer stage, before final results are out.
Family budgets in dirhams are strong — should we still bother with scholarships?+
Yes, for two reasons. First, even a partial merit award of AED 40,000–90,000 a year compounds over a three- or four-year degree. Second, merit scholarships signal standing — they strengthen visa applications that assess funds and credibility, and they carry weight on a CV. Since most university entrance awards need no separate application, there is rarely a reason not to be considered.
Is the university placement service really free?+
Yes, our service is 100% free. Counselling, university matching, application support and guidance right up to your offer cost you nothing. There are no consultation fees and no agent fees, because we are funded by our university partners. The only cost you take on is the university’s own tuition or semester fees, which you pay directly to the university after you accept your offer.
What exactly do you help with?+
Everything from start to finish: understanding your options, shortlisting the right programme, preparing your application and personal statement, submitting to the university, and guiding you through the offer, enrolment and visa paperwork, all with a dedicated counsellor.
