IGCSE October November 2026 Timezone Guide: When Exams Start in UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Europe
The IGCSE October/November 2026 exams run in local time at each centre. This guide explains how timezones affect your exam schedule in UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, and Europe — and flags the one thing this series has that May/June doesn’t: a clock change partway through.
Why Timezones Matter
Cambridge International uses administrative zones so exams are taken at appropriate local times. Timetables show AM/PM sessions in the centre’s local time. Same subject, different zone = different clock time.
The Mid-Series Clock Change
Unlike May/June, the October/November series (28 September – 13 November 2026) spans the end of Northern Hemisphere Daylight Saving Time:
- UK and EU clocks fall back on Sunday 25 October 2026 (BST → GMT, CEST → CET)
- US clocks fall back on Sunday 1 November 2026 (EDT/CDT/MDT/PDT → EST/CST/MST/PST)
- UAE, Singapore, Malaysia and most of Asia, the Gulf and Africa do not observe DST — no change for these zones
If your exam is scheduled either side of these dates, double-check the local time on your official timetable rather than assuming the offset from earlier in the series still applies.

Example: Same Paper, Different Times
If Mathematics Paper 2 is scheduled for 09:00 AM local time in each zone:
- UAE (GST): 09:00 UAE time, unaffected by any clock change
- Singapore (SGT): 09:00 Singapore time, unaffected
- Malaysia (MYT): 09:00 Malaysia time, unaffected
- UK: 09:00 UK time — but that’s BST before 25 Oct and GMT after, a real one-hour shift in UTC terms
Practical Tips
- Always use local time — your timetable is in your centre’s timezone.
- Mind the changeover dates — 25 October (UK/EU) and 1 November (USA) fall inside this series, unlike May/June.
- Plan travel — if your centre is in a different city, convert times correctly.
