Directly — UK universities express offers against H2 grades just as they do UK A-Levels, with competitive courses typically asking the equivalent of AAB–A*AA in three H2 subjects. Selective programmes may also note H1/H3 achievements and relevant subject requirements. IB students convert through tariffs, usually 34–40+ points for competitive offers. Polytechnic diploma holders are also read well, often entering with advanced standing into year one or two depending on course match.

At August 2026 rates (£1 ≈ S$1.73): tuition of S$24,000–66,000 a year plus living costs of S$17,000–27,000. A three-year bachelor's totals roughly S$125,000–280,000 all-in; a one-year master's S$41,000–93,000. London accounts for the top of every range. Remember the structural saving: three years, not four — against a US degree the UK often costs S$100,000+ less for the same career outcome.

The standard route is deferred entry: apply during JC2 or IB year two, receive offers, and request deferment for the two NS years — UK universities grant this routinely for Singaporean NS and see it on thousands of applications. You matriculate post-ORD with your place secured. Applying during NS also works, using your final school results. Either way, mention NS plainly in the application; it reads as maturity, and a UK three-year degree means you still graduate around age 24.

Skip the development schemes — Commonwealth and Chevening-style awards exclude high-income Singapore. Aim instead at the open elite awards (Gates Cambridge, Oxford's Clarendon, Rhodes' dedicated Singapore constituency) and university merit scholarships, which have no country lists and reward exactly the grades Singaporean students carry. Also look homeward: Singapore bank, statutory-board and corporate scholarships increasingly fund overseas study, and a strong UK offer is the key that opens those doors.
