Questions about applying
Is applying through ApplyBoard really free?
Yes. Searching ApplyBoard’s programmes and submitting through their intake form costs you nothing. Tutopiya is a registered ApplyBoard recruitment partner, so the university pays us a commission if you enrol — the same commission that funds our counselling. You only pay the SGD 50 if you want a counsellor to run the application with you.
What is the difference between the two routes?
Who does the work. Self-serve means you choose the programme, complete the form and manage your own documents and deadlines. The SGD 50 route puts a dedicated counsellor on it: shortlisting against your actual grades and budget, checking entry requirements before you apply, and preparing the personal statement, references and visa documents with you.
Why does the search only show five countries?
ApplyBoard’s own search covers USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland. Our counsellors place students across all 16 destinations on this site, including Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore and Japan, so if your destination is not in that list the counsellor route is the one to take.
Can I start on my own and bring in a counsellor later?
Yes, and plenty of students do. Start the ApplyBoard form yourself, and if you get stuck on entry requirements, a personal statement or the visa stage, come back and ask for a counsellor. You are charged the SGD 50 only from the point you decide you want one.
