IB Schools Seoul Fees 2026

South Korea has embraced the International Baccalaureate with growing enthusiasm. Seoul alone is home to over 20 IB World Schools offering one or more IB programmes — from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) through to the Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP).

For families committed to the IB pathway, Seoul offers genuine choice. This guide covers the main IB schools in Seoul and across South Korea with indicative fee ranges.

IB Programmes: A Quick Overview

  • PYP (Primary Years Programme): Ages 3–12. Inquiry-based framework for early childhood through primary.
  • MYP (Middle Years Programme): Ages 11–16. Bridges PYP and DP with a broad, interdisciplinary curriculum.
  • DP (Diploma Programme): Ages 16–19. The globally recognised two-year pre-university qualification.
  • CP (Career-related Programme): Ages 16–19. Combines IB DP courses with career-related study.

Korea International School (KIS)

KIS offers the IB MYP (Middle Years) and Diploma Programme alongside its American curriculum. For students who complete the KIS MYP, the IB DP provides a natural progression and a universally recognised qualification for university entry.

KIS is the most competitive IB school in Korea by university placement, sending graduates regularly to Oxford, Cambridge, Ivy League universities, and top Korean institutions.

Dulwich College Seoul

Dulwich Seoul offers a full IB continuum: PYP in the primary years, MYP in middle school, and DP at the senior level. The school’s affiliation with the global DCIS network means the curriculum is consistent with Dulwich campuses in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, and London.

For families who may relocate again, the Dulwich/DCIS network is a significant advantage — transitions between campuses are smooth and the curriculum is identical.

Dwight School Seoul

Dwight School Seoul is one of the few IB-only schools in Korea, offering the full PYP–MYP–DP–CP continuum. The school is part of the global Dwight Schools network (New York, London, Shanghai, Dubai) and is a natural choice for families who want the IB from the very beginning of their child’s education.

Dwight’s fees are somewhat lower than KIS or Dulwich, making it an attractive option for families committed to IB without the premium price tag of the very top schools.

North London Collegiate School Jeju (NLCS Jeju)

NLCS Jeju is located within Jeju Global Education City — a special economic zone on Jeju Island designed to attract world-class international schools. The school is affiliated with North London Collegiate School London, one of the UK’s leading girls’ schools. NLCS Jeju is co-educational and operates as a full boarding school.

The school offers the IB MYP and Diploma Programme alongside British IGCSE and A-Level qualifications. IB DP results at NLCS Jeju are consistently among the strongest in Asia.

IB in South Korea: Growing Recognition

Korean universities have progressively increased their recognition of IB Diploma results over the past decade. Major Korean universities including Seoul National University (SNU), Yonsei, and Korea University now accept IB DP results for admission — a significant shift that has increased the appeal of IB schools for Korean families as well as expats.

The IB’s global transferability also makes it the preferred choice for internationally mobile families who are unsure of their next destination.

IB vs AP vs A-Level in Seoul

IB Diploma is the most internationally transferable option and is accepted by universities worldwide. It is the strongest choice for students who may attend university in multiple possible countries or are genuinely undecided.

AP (Advanced Placement) is the US college board’s pre-university programme, found predominantly at American curriculum schools like KIS and SIS. It is well-recognised at US universities but less so elsewhere.

A-Levels (offered at Dulwich Seoul, Seoul Foreign School, and NLCS Jeju) are the standard UK qualification and are very well recognised in the UK, Australia, Canada, and Singapore. Less familiar to US admissions officers, though many Russell Group university preparation courses bridge this.

Admissions for IB Schools in Seoul

IB schools in Seoul typically require:

  • School transcripts and academic records
  • English language assessment (for non-native speakers)
  • Interview (in-person or video call)
  • Teacher references
  • Applications 6–18 months in advance (waitlists common at KIS, Dulwich, NLCS Jeju)
