IGCSE Post-Results Services: Re-Mark and Recheck
After IGCSE results are released, both Cambridge and Edexcel offer post-results services so you can request a clerical check or re-mark if you think something is wrong.
Types of Service
- Clerical recheck: Marks are checked for addition and transfer errors. No re-marking; lower fee.
- Re-mark (review of marking): A second examiner looks at your script. Grade can go up or down; higher fee.
- Priority re-mark: Faster re-mark for urgent cases (e.g. university deadline); extra fee.
How to Request
- School candidates: Through your school; the school submits to the board.
- Private candidates: Through your exam centre (e.g. British Council).
- Deadline: Usually within 2–4 weeks of results—don’t miss it.
- Fees: Per component; often refunded if the grade goes up.
Before You Request
- Re-marks can lower your grade; only request if you have a strong reason (e.g. big difference from your expected performance or from other components).
- Clerical check is low risk (no re-marking) and can be worth trying if you suspect an adding-up error.
