What’s After IGCSE?
IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) is a rigorous, challenging and balanced two-year university-preparation programme for students aged 16 to 19.
This offers students the choice to specialise in certain subjects.
- Students select one course from each subject group (The arts may be replaced with another subject).
- At least two languages are studied.
- At least three courses are taken at a higher level (HL), generally 240 hours of instruction. Standard level (SL) courses are typically 150 hours.
- All courses are designed to span two years, assessed with the same level of rigour and equally weighted.
A compulsory core comprises three distinct components, and is an integral part of the DP student experience:
- Theory of knowledge (TOK)
- The extended essay (EE)
- Creativity, activity, service (CAS)
The IB DP curriculum is said to be more rigorous and challenging than the Cambridge/Edexcel curriculum. Students have to be prepared to work harder than before if they are considering to enrol into an IB curriculum.
Transitioning from IGCSE to IB can be a huge step, read on the 4 Tips to Help You Smoothly Transit to Other Curriculum. Or, you can read more specifically, how you can Transition from IGCSE to IB curriculum.
Tutopiya has curriculum transitioning programmes (eg. IGCSE to IB) for students that can help students who are transitioning from one curriculum to another to cope better. This program aims to help students to close up any knowledge gaps the students may have.
The IB DP Math is usually the one students seek help in. Take a look at our IB DP Mathematics SL Cheatsheet. Tutopiya will assess the student’s strengths and weaknesses before customising a personalised timetable to suit the student’s learning pace.
We have tutors that are experienced and qualified to teach online effectively. This means you can learn from the comfort of your own home with a stable WiFi connection and a tablet/laptop.
