International School Fees Switzerland: Budget to Premium

Switzerland (Geneva, Zurich, Lausanne and other cantons) has international schools from budget to premium – British, IB and other curricula. This guide gives fee ranges and example schools so you can make an informed choice. Swiss international schools are often at the premium end globally.

Quick overview of fee ranges (annual tuition, indicative)

  • Budget: Roughly CHF 15,000–25,000 per year (primary). Smaller or bilingual schools, recognised curricula.
  • Mid-tier: Roughly CHF 28,000–38,000 per year (primary). Established international schools, good facilities.
  • Premium: Roughly CHF 42,000–55,000+ per year (primary). Top facilities, strong IGCSE/IBDP, often boarding.

Secondary and exam years are typically higher. Boarding adds significantly.

Budget end: example schools and fees

Ecole Internationale de Genève (EIG) (certain campuses), International School of Berne and La Côte International School can sit in the budget band. Primary often CHF 18,000–25,000 per year. Check each school’s latest fee schedule.

Mid-tier: example schools and fees

International School of Geneva (Ecolint), Zurich International School (ZIS) and International School of Lausanne (ISL) are mid-tier examples. Primary often CHF 30,000–38,000; secondary/IBDP can be CHF 38,000–48,000. Strong IB provision.

Premium: example schools and fees

Institut Le Rosey, Aiglon College and Brillantmont International School (boarding) sit at the premium end. Boarding can be CHF 85,000–120,000+ per year. Collège du Léman and Institut Montana offer day and boarding in the CHF 45,000–75,000 range. Extensive facilities and university placement.

What to watch beyond tuition

  • Registration and enrolment fees (one-off; can be CHF 2,000–6,000+).
  • Learning support and EAL – often extra; can add CHF 4,000–12,000+ per year.
  • Board exam fees (IGCSE, IB, A level) – not always in tuition; budget CHF 2,500–6,000+ per exam session.
  • Boarding and extras – can double or more the base tuition.

See our Hidden International School Fees – MUST READ for a full checklist.

How to choose

  • Decide budget band, day vs boarding and curriculum; get full fee schedules (tuition + one-off and annual extras).
  • Compare total cost over 3–5 years and fee progression by year group.
  • Clarify what is included vs add-on (support, trips, exams).
