International School Fees Kenya: Budget to Premium

Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa and other towns) has international schools from budget to premium – British, IB and other curricula. This guide gives fee ranges and example schools so you can make an informed choice.

Quick overview of fee ranges (annual tuition, indicative)

  • Budget: Roughly KES 400,000–800,000 per year (primary). Newer or smaller schools, recognised curricula.
  • Mid-tier: Roughly KES 1,000,000–1,800,000 per year (primary). Established schools, good facilities.
  • Premium: Roughly KES 2,200,000–3,500,000+ per year (primary). Top facilities, strong IGCSE/IBDP.

Secondary and exam years are typically higher. Some schools quote in USD.

Budget end: example schools and fees

Kenton College Preparatory, Braeburn School (certain campuses) and Peponi School can sit in the budget band. Primary often KES 500,000–800,000 per year. Check each school’s latest fee schedule.

Mid-tier: example schools and fees

International School of Kenya (ISK), Braeburn School and Brookhouse School are mid-tier examples. Primary often KES 1,100,000–1,800,000; secondary/IBDP can be KES 1,800,000–2,500,000. Strong British/IB provision.

Premium: example schools and fees

International School of Kenya (ISK) (full programme), Brookhouse School (senior years) and Banda School sit at the premium end. Primary can be KES 2,400,000–3,200,000 and secondary/IBDP KES 2,800,000–3,800,000+. Extensive facilities and university placement.

What to watch beyond tuition

  • Registration and enrolment fees (one-off; can be KES 50,000–200,000+).
  • Learning support and EAL – often extra; can add KES 120,000–350,000+ per year.
  • Board exam fees (IGCSE, IB, A level) – not in tuition; budget KES 100,000–300,000+ per exam session.

See our Hidden International School Fees – MUST READ for a full checklist.

How to choose

  • Decide budget band and curriculum; get full fee schedules (tuition + one-off and annual extras).
  • Compare total cost over 3–5 years and fee progression by year group.
  • Ask what is included vs add-on (support, trips, exams).
