International School Fees Ghana: Budget to Premium

Ghana (Accra, Kumasi and other cities) has international schools from budget to premium – British, IB and other curricula. This guide gives fee ranges and example schools so you can make an informed choice.

Quick overview of fee ranges (annual tuition, indicative)

  • Budget: Roughly GHS 25,000–55,000 per year (primary). Newer or smaller schools, recognised curricula.
  • Mid-tier: Roughly GHS 65,000–120,000 per year (primary). Established schools, good facilities.
  • Premium: Roughly GHS 130,000–220,000+ per year (primary). Top facilities, strong IGCSE/IBDP.

Secondary and exam years are typically higher. Accra has the widest choice. Some schools quote in USD.

Budget end: example schools and fees

Peculiar International School, Ghana International School (GIS) (certain programmes) and Roman Ridge School can sit in the budget band. Primary often GHS 30,000–55,000 per year. Check each school’s latest fee schedule.

Mid-tier: example schools and fees

Ghana International School (GIS), Lincoln Community School and British International School (BIS) Accra are mid-tier examples. Primary often GHS 70,000–120,000; secondary/IBDP can be GHS 120,000–180,000. Strong British/IB provision.

Premium: example schools and fees

Lincoln Community School, Ghana International School (GIS) (full programme) and British International School (BIS) Accra (senior years) sit at the premium end. Primary can be GHS 140,000–200,000 and secondary/IBDP GHS 180,000–250,000+. Extensive facilities and university placement.

What to watch beyond tuition

  • Registration and enrolment fees (one-off; can be GHS 5,000–20,000+).
  • Learning support and EAL – often extra; can add GHS 15,000–45,000+ per year.
  • Board exam fees (IGCSE, IB, A level) – not in tuition; budget GHS 12,000–35,000+ per exam session.
  • Currency: some fees in USD; confirm payment currency.

See our Hidden International School Fees – MUST READ for a full checklist.

How to choose

  • Set your budget band and curriculum; request full fee schedules (tuition + one-off and annual extras).
  • Compare total cost over 3–5 years and fee progression by year group.
  • Clarify what is included vs add-on (support, trips, exams) and payment currency.
