IGCSE Withdrawal and Refunds: When Can You Get Your Money Back?
IGCSE Withdrawal and Refunds: What to Expect
Sometimes you need to withdraw from an IGCSE entry (e.g. change of plans, illness). Whether you get a refund depends on when you withdraw and the centre’s (and board’s) policy.
Withdrawal Deadlines
- Before the board’s amendment/withdrawal deadline: You can usually withdraw and may get a partial refund (e.g. full fee minus an admin charge).
- After that deadline: Withdrawal may still be possible but no refund is typical—the board has already committed the entry.
What Gets Refunded?
- Board fees: Often partially refundable if you withdraw early; non-refundable after a certain date.
- Centre admin fees: Depends on the centre; some keep an admin fee even when the board refunds.
- Late fees: Usually non-refundable if you paid late and then withdraw.
How to Withdraw
- School candidates: Tell your school; the school withdraws with the board.
- Private candidates: Contact your exam centre (e.g. British Council) and ask for withdrawal and any refund in writing.
Best Approach
- Ask your centre for their withdrawal and refund policy before you register, so you know where you stand.
