IGCSE Post-Results Services: Re-Mark and Appeal
Post-results services let you query your IGCSE grade through a clerical check, re-mark, or appeal. Use them when you believe there was an error or your script wasn’t marked fairly.
Clerical Check
- The board checks that marks were added and transferred correctly.
- No re-marking of your script.
- Lower fee; grade can stay the same or (rarely) go up if an adding error is found.
- Short deadline after results—often 2–3 weeks.
Re-Mark (Review of Marking)
- A senior examiner re-marks your script.
- Higher fee.
- Grade can go up or down; if it goes down, the lower grade usually stands.
- Same short deadline—apply via your centre or school.
Appeal
- If you’re still unhappy after a re-mark, you can sometimes request an appeal (e.g. procedural review).
- Fees and process vary by board; your centre can give you the form and deadline.
Practical Advice
- Only request a re-mark if you have a strong reason (e.g. expected much higher from your mock and exam performance).
- Clerical check is low-risk and can be worth trying if you suspect a simple error.
