A-level: extended writing weight
At International A-level:
- Extended writing carries more marks than at IGCSE.
- Level descriptors assess overall quality—structure, depth, use of evidence, conclusion.
- Best-fit marking—your answer is placed in the descriptor that fits best.
- Trait expectations—each level describes what examiners look for (e.g. developed analysis, balanced argument, clear conclusion).
