The article title is School Holidays are here! Tips on studying during holidays School holidays are coming for our local students, Primary and Secondary. Before you go on and have your well-deserved break, take a read about why working harder during this school holiday can help you in your upcoming semester. For our primary school students, they have just gotten back their results for their Semestral Assessment 1 also known as SA1 or Mid Year Examinations. And for our secondary school students, you also have just gotten back your results for your Mid Year Examinations. If your results are not up to expectations, let us tell you how you can prepare during this school holiday! Advantages of studying during this school holidays First, you need to understand why studying this holiday can heavily benefit you. Since you have gotten back your examination scripts, it is time to review them and find out your knowledge gaps. Upon identifying them, you will be able to know your weak topics and plan a study routine for the topic as to how you can study for it. Eg. if your weakness is situational writing. You can look up on guides, tips and even refer to model situational writing and get a glimpse of what a good situational writing looks like. This holiday is essential to help you catch up with your peers by closing up any knowledge gaps or staying ahead before school reopens. For those who have done well, it is still good to utilize your holiday to the fullest.   Here are some of the tips as to how you can study and prepare during this June holiday. Tips on how to study during this school holidays   1 - Go back to your test papers Look through your most recent test papers and see what questions you have gotten wrong. Review the questions you have gotten wrong and check your understanding again. This helps you to identify the parts that you are weak in. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you misinterpret the question? Why did you answer that? Ask yourself some questions while reviewing them. Work out your thought process and you might just find the reason as to why you got the question wrong. 2 - Revise the chapters that were taught in the first semester (in little parts) Spend some time in the day to read on a chapter, not for long, 30 minutes to an hour would do a day. Make sure you are still in touch with the chapters and you have not forgotten them. Majority of the topics taught in the first semester set your foundation for what you are going to learn in the second semester. Some final examinations test on all the chapters or topics, including chapters in the first semester. Therefore, having to revise those chapters can help you focus more on the new topics that are coming up in the next semester. 3 - Be familiar with what you are going to learn the next semester When it is nearing the start of school, take some time in the day to brief read on the upcoming chapters. This is to keep an idea of what will be happening when school reopens and be prepared.  4 - Take tuition classes During the school holidays, you can arrange some tuition classes to catch up with your peers or stay ahead of them. Having tuition may sound extremely dreadful as it means extra work. But during the holidays as you will have no one to answer your queries, a personal tutor will be the perfect guide and mentor to keep you on track with your study plans and clarify your queries. A private tutor will also focus on your exact needs and bridge any gaps in knowledge or skills which you may have. You can also try online tutoring where you and the tutor can learn and teach at the comfort of your own homes respectively. Online tutoring is the most convenient and affordable form of individual private tuition which allows you to learn from the comfort of your home. Tutopiya provides online tutoring for students aged 8 to 18 with highly qualified and trained tutors, including ex MOE teachers. Tutopiya offers online tuition from Primary to Junior College and for all subjects. Learn more about us here!    To begin studying effectively, it is recommended that you take some time to plan out your holiday. Make a daily or weekly goal that you would like to get done. Designate a specific time and place in the day to study for a short while. This is also to help cultivate a habit and train your brain to think and work at that timing.
