Frequently asked questions

What is a command word in exams?

A command word tells you what to do in your answer. “State” needs a short fact, “describe” needs key features, and “explain” needs linked reasons.

How do I get full marks on “explain” questions?

Use a chain of statements linked with reasons (because/therefore). Name the rule or property, and make sure each step follows logically from the last.

What does “compare” mean in exam questions?

Compare means talk about both items using the same feature (for example: accuracy, size, rate). Use numbers where possible and finish with a clear conclusion.

Which boards will the trainer cover?

Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel International and AQA — across IGCSE and International A Levels. Pick your board and start with the subject you need.

Is this a replacement for past papers?

No — it’s a technique tool. Use it alongside past papers to improve how you structure answers and pick up marks efficiently.
