Key demographic terms
Six core terms.
Birth rate = live births per 1,000 population per year.
Death rate = deaths per 1,000 population per year.
Natural increase = BR − DR. Expressed as % growth.
Infant mortality = deaths under 1 year per 1,000 live births. Development indicator.
Life expectancy = average years a person can expect to live.
Fertility rate = average children per woman. ~2.1 = replacement level.
