AQA GCSE History (8145) combines a period study and a wider world depth study (Understanding the modern world) with a thematic study and a British depth study including the historic environment (Shaping the nation). It is an untiered, linear qualification graded 9-1, assessed by two equally weighted written exams with no coursework. Students work with sources and interpretations and write analytical, well-structured accounts and essays; at least 40% of content is British history.
