Our story & mission
Tutopiya was founded in April 2018 by Nuha Ghouse and Buddhika Jayawardhana with one aim: to democratise international schooling and break every barrier to gaining—and excelling in—IGCSE and International A-Level exams. No matter your background, your means, or where you are in the world.
We are a mission-driven organisation, passionate about education and its power to change lives. Everything we build is guided by that belief.
Our founders
Nuha Ghouse
Co-founder & CEO
Nuha is a first-class honours Mathematics graduate from Imperial College London. She has tutored students from top private and international schools in the UK and Singapore, and was an award winner for IGCSE and International A-Level exams. She brings deep domain expertise to Tutopiya and drives our commitment to high academic standards.
Buddhika Jayawardhana
Co-founder & CTO
Buddhika is a Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He brings strong tech expertise to Tutopiya and is always looking for ways to build features that delight our users and make learning more effective.

How our product has developed
We started with tutoring. To keep up the academic quality control that was so critical to us, we invested in building resources for our tutors to use as a base for their lessons. Over 8 years, that resources bank has grown into the largest IGCSE & A-Level resources bank in the world—and it is now powered by AI: notes, exam quizzes, practice questions, assessment tools, videos, and much more.
Our AI-powered resources platform now supports some of the leading private schools in the world—such as King's School Canterbury—and leading international school groups globally, including the Beaconhouse group of schools.
